    • knees are weak
    • hands are cold but curiously sweaty
    • your first public speech...
    • would our graduates please stand and make their way to the front for...JUST KIDDING!

TEXT:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

  • FACE YOUR FEARS
    • Bible is full of “fear nots”
    • Paul encourages Timothy not to let others intimidate him b/c of his young age
    • any cowardice in ur life doesn’t come from God (guess where?????)
    • God the Holy Spirit is living inside of the Graduate who has a personal relationship w/ Jesus
    • Max Lucado says, “Fear doesn’t want you to make the journey to the mountain. If he can rattle you enough, fear will persuade you to take your eyes off the peaks and settle for a dull existence in the flatlands.”
    • FEARFUL MOMENTS AHEAD
    • living away from Mom’s cooking
    • living away from Dad buying meals out
    • job interview
    • no close friends or people you can trust
    • godly lifestyle on college campus
    • honesty and integrity when it costs you

DEMONSTRATION:

  • raise ur hand when the longest line is pointed to
  • FORGET YOUR FAILURES
    • Paul said, “Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead Phil. 3:13
    • refuse to allow past failures to become destructive in your life
    • refuse to allow failures to hinder your journey toward God’s goal for you
    • learn from the failure, move forward with more wisdom and experience
    • Churchill stated at a commencement... “NEVER GIVE UP”...and sat down
  • FOLLOW YOUR FAITH
    • we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses
    • get rid of the weight of sin that’s holding you back
    • run with endurance the race before you
    • keep your eyes fixed on Jesus
    • remember your example of fighting against the hardship....JESUS
    • (Apollo 13 kept their eyes fixed on earth for a 39 second manual burn to get back home)
