Guarding Your Child on the iPod Touch

Parents, rightly, want to protect their children from all the dangers of the world, and no where has that danger been more real, yet more accessible than on the Internet. From pornography to cyber bullying, the internet can be a world of temptation for both children and adults.

Most parents have taken steps to help safeguard their family from these dangers by placing the family computer in a central location in the home so that it can be monitored by anyone walking through the house.

However, with the increasing popularity of devices like the iPod Touch, the Internet can be browsed from anywhere, far from the watchful eyes of parents. The monitoring system of having the family computer in a high-traffic place in the home is no longer effective.

Thankfully, some App Store developers have a solution. They call it “X3watch.” This free app installs on the iPod Touch and iPhone and provides a rich browsing experience and full Internet accountability.

“When you browse the internet and access a site which may contain questionable material [X3watch] records the possible objectionable sites with the date and time they were visited. The accountability reports will go out every one to three weeks to your accountability partners, depending on your preference.” (noted on the App Store)

“X3watch is the best accountability tool (maybe the only accountability tool) available for the iPhone an iPod Touch. I highly recommend all parents that have children with an iPod Touch to install this app on their child’s device. Parents, it is your responsibility to protect your kids, this is the perfect tool to use.

“This app is also available for both Mac and Windows so you can use it on your family computer as well. With the today’s proliferation of pornographic and offensive materiel available to your child at any time, you must protect your children,” Youth Pastor Stephen Castleberry said.

TEXT: 1Chronicles 4:1 The sons of Judah; Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.
Judah - the praise of the Lord; confession

Judah "produced" 5 Sons. Since Judah means "praise", we can conclude that PRAISE PRODUCES 5 THINGS (sons)
Praise produces Pharez - division;
• divides us from things that hinder our forward progress in Jesus
• dividing line between us & what the enemy has designed to hinder our life
Joh 10:10 A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.
• praise derails Satan’s plans
• praise divides past failures from future triumphs
Praise produces Hezron – enclosed, shield
Isa 59:19 When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard [SHIELD, SAFEGUARD, BUFFER] against him.
Psa 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow [DEFENSE] of the Almighty.
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
• praising Saints don’t pay attention to fiery darts
• why wouldn’t we praise the One who defends us?
Praise Produces Carmi –vine dresser
• one who prunes & harvests vines he did not plant
• G*R*A*C*E
o Another word for Favor
o Praise brings blessings
o Undeserved & unmerited
o Not b/c of who we are
o Not b/c of what we’ve done
• we “praise” the One who has done great things on our behalf
Praise Produces Hur – liberty;
Praise sets us at liberty from:
• distraction
o when we’re praising God we can stay focused on Him and His will for us
• the past and its pain
o bad choices
o consequences of bad choices
• Praise is a weapon
2Co 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God…
o Pulls down strongholds
 Satan’s kingdom
o Casting down imaginations
 arguments
o Casting down every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God
 Barrier raised by enemy to keep people from knowing God
o bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
 doctrines, philosophies, emotions & opinions
Victory when we praise through:
• trial & tribulation
• sickness & pain
• distortion & distress
Praise Produces Shobal – path (pioneer);
Pioneer – one who leads the way; one who breaks new ground
Through Praise you will find…
• yourself going places you’ve never been before
• God will open doors for you that no one can close
Jos 1:2 …now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, …unto the land which I do give...
Jos 1:3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, …
Jos 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Jos 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage… Jos 1:7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, …turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
There is power in your praise…
What do we have to praise Him about?
Because He’s…

He blessed me
He cares for me
Delivered me
Erased the penalty of sin against me
Gave me eternal life
Heard my cry
Justified me
He keeps me
Loves me
Has mercy on me
Never leaves me
Opens doors for me
Paid the price for me
Redeemed me
Saved & sanctified me
Took my place @ Calvary
Gives me victory
& that’s the short list!
